National UPlift Someone Day began in 2024. UP Entertainment created it to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
The company wanted to go beyond just sharing feel-good shows. They hoped to encourage people to lift each other up through real, everyday actions.
Small, thoughtful gestures—not grand events—became the focus. The date, October 30, was officially added to the National Day Archives that same month.
That step helped the idea reach a larger audience quickly.
Charley Humbard, CEO and founder of UP Entertainment, introduced the day through press releases and interviews. He shared that the company’s mission had always been about spreading hope.
Creating a national day just made sense to them. It brought that message into the real world, not just through screens.
The day also ties into their work with groups like Feeding America. They now encourage people to donate food, time, or kindness to someone who needs it.
Since its launch, news outlets, blogs, and everyday folks have picked it up.
Some write uplifting messages, others post kind words, and many help quietly in their own neighborhoods.
In just a short time, this day has started to grow. Its message is simple: people matter, and so do the small things we do for them.
Write Something Honest
Send a note that says what you truly admire in someone. A few sincere words can leave a lasting effect. Skip generic phrases. Share a specific moment, feeling, or strength you’ve noticed. That kind of honesty reaches further than you might expect.
Give with Intention
Offer something useful—a meal, a ride, or a break. Think about what might actually help, not just what feels easy. Ask quietly if they need anything. Watch how they move through their day, then step in gently. Thoughtful help speaks louder than big words.
Be Fully Present
Sit down with someone who needs company. Listen without rushing, fixing, or turning the talk toward yourself. Put your phone away. Keep your focus steady and open. Just holding space without judgment can offer real comfort.
Say Something Online That Matters
Use social media gently. Leave a kind comment, not just a like. Highlight something real about the person, not just what they posted. Avoid quick reactions—offer meaning instead. It shows someone that who they are matters more than how they appear.
Notice and Speak Up
Pay attention to someone doing quiet, meaningful work. Tell them you noticed. Often, that’s all someone needs to keep going. You don’t need a reason or a special occasion. Let them know their effort means something. Silent work deserves loud appreciation.
