Born on December 22, 1666, in Patna, Bihar, India, Guru Gobind Singh was the son of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth guru of the Sikhs, and was just nine years old when his father was martyred by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb for refusing to convert to Islam.
