Programme

TAZ (Theater Aan Zee) is a performing arts festival in the Belgian coastal city of Oostende. The 2026 edition carries the theme "Message in a Bottle," where the sea tells stories, under the leadership of Walter Van Steenbrugge and Sarah Yu Zeebroek. Every year, this vibrant event attracts thousands of visitors with a unique mix of performing arts, music, literature, and visual arts. The festival takes place at the most extraordinary locations in Oostende and provides a platform for young, emerging talent. Eleven-day festival from 29 July to 8 August 2026 13 premieres and 2 Belgian premieres; more than 600 performances at the most beautiful locations in Oostende, with 15 new venues Leopold Park as the festival's beating heart, featuring WonderWaai – a free space for children and families with circus, acrobatics, family theatre, workshops, and a kids' café Unique locations in Oostende: from intimate halls to historic buildings and beach stages Multidisciplinary mix: theatre, dance, performing arts, music, literature, photography, and visual arts Focus on emerging artists: the festival gives young creators a platform to present work and supports their development
