The Royal Festival has been a showcase of Belgian French-language theatre for 65 years, established by Théâtre National de Bruxelles in 1959. Since 2018, the festival has expanded to encompass a wide array of performing arts, including circus, musical performances, new magic, object theatre, puppetry, theatre for young audiences, stand-up comedy, mentalism, and visual performances. With 96% occupancy and nearly 16,000 spectators in recent editions, the festival gathers a large audience in the heritage-rich small town of Spa. In 2026, the return of circus tents will allow the festival to open up to even more new audiences.
