Every last Thursday of August, the three guild giants – Indiaan, Mars, and Goliath – dance through the city center, starring in their own procession, Katuit. The gildereuzen are surrounded by more than 1000 historically costumed figurants, floats with horses, brass bands, professional street theater, flag swingers and torch bearers creating a unique spectacle. In 2005, the giants and Katuit were added to the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
