History

Founded by the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP), Pride In Foodservice Week celebrates the accomplishments and hard work that those in the food service industry work towards to keep food services up to standard and up to par with federal service regulations.

The Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals has been a non-profit organization serving its communities all over the United States since the early 1960s. Today, the ANFP has over 14,000 professionals dedicated to the practice of providing nutritional care.

The organization engages research, education, and charitable causes to promote the role of dietary professionals in foodservice management and food safety.

Beginning back in 1991, Pride In Foodservice Week is just one of this organization’s events that allows them to appreciate their members as well as others in the foodservice industry that care about the nutrition and safety of people’s food.

Throughout the week, people give gifts to those that plan, develop and serve nutritious meals to nursing homes, hospitals, and schools all over the country. During this time, the ANFP also hosts an annual contest to allow those in the industry to share their stories and tell people how they’re going to celebrate the week.
