On 13 September 2026, Flanders will once again celebrate the 38th Open Monumentendag . Kortrijk is the host city of this edition . Under the banner "In goede handen" (In Good Hands), the focus is on the people and practices that care for our heritage . More than 800 monuments across Flanders will open their doors , making it the largest free cultural one-day event in Flanders .
13 September 2026 – Host City Focus (Kortrijk)
~125 local Open Monumentendag organisers have gathered in the host city to prepare activities . Expected activities include guided visits to Sint-Amandscollege, Broeltorens, Deelfabriek, Baggaertshof, cycling and search trails along chapels, and reopened textile heritage sites . European theme 'Heritage at risk: revive, resist, reimagine'; Flemish theme 'In goede handen' focuses on heritage preservation, restoration and re-use
