National Propane was founded fairly recently, in 2022, to increase public understanding and awareness about the facts around the use of propane as fuel.

The event was started through the efforts of the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC) with the hope of not only informing the public about propane but also showing special accolades and recognition to those who work so hard in the propane industry.
