How to celebrate

Brag on Those Pet Babies

Many pet parents don’t need a special reason to share pictures of how cute their cuddly little pet babies are. But for those who would appreciate an excuse, National Pet Parents Day is here. This is the time to snap some photos of those four legged little ones and share them on social media for everyone to see how great being a pet parent actually is!

Become a Pet Parent

For those who have never had pets or who don’t currently, perhaps National Pet Parents Day would be just the right time to consider adopting a dog or cat from a nearby animal shelter, or checking with a breeder about adopting other animals like rabbits, turtles, or guinea pigs.

Remember the Power of Pets

One of the important parts of observing National Pet Parents Day is to act as a reminder about the wide range of benefits that pets can bring to their humans. According to the National Institutes of Health, pets are helpful to individuals and families in some of these ways: Dog owners can become healthier by increasing their physical activity by taking the dog on walks Pets (especially dogs and cats) can be sensitive to human feelings and provide emotional supportPets can be helpful for those with cancer and other illnesses as they promote compassion, decrease stress and may even reduce pain Interacting with animals has been shown to decrease cortisol (stress hormones) and lower blood pressure while improving the mood

Consider Some New Pet Insurance Policies

One of the ways that pet parents can be sure they are equipped to take care of all the needs of their little furballs is to take an annual look at the way that they insure their pets, in honor of National Pet Parents Day. Of course, having a pet insurance policy isn’t the only way to show love for a pet, but it could be a good place to start. In the past, the sponsors of this event, VPI, have made donations to help with pet rescues, with the dollar amount related to the number of pet insurance quotes they received during the month.
