The Mechelen Braderie is a traditional biannual sale and street market event held in the city centre during Ascension Day weekend (May) and early September. Shoppers browse market stalls set up across multiple downtown shopping streets with bargains, snacks, drinks, and local products. In 2026, the event coincides with Mechelen hosting the 1000 km cycling race for Kom op tegen Kanker, creating a festive atmosphere blending retail, leisure, and community support.
