History

First celebrated in 2023, March4Water was founded by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) to shine a spotlight on the ability communities have to build resilience related to water stress.

The IAPMO is a non-profit organization made up of experts from all over the globe who specialize in supporting policies and industries related to plumbing and mechanics – to provide safe water for people around the world.

March4Water is scheduled to take place during March, which also includes important days such as World Water Day on March 22 and World Plumbing Day on the 11th of March.

How to celebrate

Reduce Personal Water Use

One excellent way to get involved, not only during March4Water but every day, is to act responsibility toward water usage. If every household would save just a few gallons of water each day, it would make a huge difference! Try ideas like taking shorter showers, installing low-water toilets, running the dishwasher only when it is full, and fixing leaks.

Access March4Water Resources

As the organization behind March4Water, the IAPMO works hard to provide toolkits, promotional kits, and other resources to individuals, community leaders, advocates, and others who might benefit from it. Head over to the IAPMO website to access online tools such as the Plumbing Resiliency Toolkit or marketing resources like shareable graphics, videos, social media posts, and more. Get involved with a number of other events celebrated by Days of the Year, including Drinking Water Week in May, Oxfam Water Week in June, and National Water Quality Month throughout August.
