The Hanswijkprocessie, an age-old tradition, takes you on Sunday 10 May 2026 on a unique journey across the city . This edition marks a special jubilee: the 150th anniversary of the crowning of the Maria image of Hanswijk, commemorating that the image was crowned with a diamond crown 150 years ago . A dynamic procession narrates and depicts key moments of faith and the city's history, originating in 1272 when residents carried the Maria image to the city gates during a plague, and gratefully promised to carry it out annually .
