The Fêtes de Wallonie (affectionately called the Wallos) is Namur's most important patriotic and popular celebration, created in 1923 by François Bovesse, commemorating Walloon patriots' participation in the 1830 Belgian Revolution. During eleven days, Wallonia's historic capital transforms into an immense theatre of folklore, heritage and modern festivities, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors.
