Drive Your Corvette to Work Day started in 2001. Mike Yager, the founder of Mid America Motorworks, came up with the idea.
He wanted Corvette owners to take their cars out on the road and enjoy them, not just keep them parked in garages. Mike picked the Friday closest to June 30 because that date marks the first Corvette ever built in 1953.
The goal was simple. Get Corvette drivers to show their pride and bring some excitement to a regular weekday.
Driving the car to work gave owners a reason to celebrate its style, speed, and history. It also helped people connect with others who shared the same passion.
Over time, more and more drivers joined in. What started small grew into a nationwide tradition. Some now plan group drives. Others organize meet-ups in office parking lots. Many just smile a little wider behind the wheel that morning.
This day isn’t only about cars. It’s about fun, friendship, and turning a normal routine into something special.
Every time a Corvette rolls past on that day, it carries a bit of that spirit with it. It reminds everyone that a daily drive can still be something to look forward to.
Rally with friends
Gather local Corvette owners before dawn. Cruise in a group and arrive together at work. Shared engine roars build energy and smiles.
Decorate your ride
Wrap a fun decal or ribbon on your Corvette. Subtle flair, like a small flag, adds personality without overdoing it.
Offer mini joyrides
Invite a coworker or neighbor for a quick spin. Pass excitement and share the thrill of that engine under the hood.
Host a parking meet‑up
Reserve a few spots near your workplace entrance. Line up your Corvettes for admiration and casual chatting during breaks.
Launch a photo challenge
Snap sunrise shots of your Corvette. Post to social media with a hashtag. Tag fellow drivers to keep the fun going.
Support a charity drive
Combine this day with a small fundraiser. Ask passengers to donate per mile driven. It’s a boost for both fun and good causes.
