Dim Sum Week was created by a group who noticed that many of the people who went out to enjoy Dim Sum didn’t actually know what it was they were ordering! Most of those who order Dim Sum assume that it’s just a type of dumpling, but the truth of the matter is it’s an entire style of cuisine that is commonly served as part of a full tea brunch! Dim Sum can include all sorts of dishes, so long as they’re bite size and served in a steamer dish or on a small plate.
When you head to a Dim Sum restaurant you’re sure to encounter barbecued pork rice rolls, shrimp dumplings, Taro dumplings, spring rolls, even sweets like sweet cream buns and pineapple buns! Believe it or not, all of these things are Dim Sum! They are prepared as bite-sized pieces that you can enjoy along with a steaming cup of green tea as part of an afternoon meal! Knowing what you know now if you’ve never had Dim Sum, this is your opportunity to find out what it’s all about!
