The Carnaval de Jalhay-Herbiester began around 1850 and takes place the Sunday following Ash Wednesday. Jalhay and Herbiester organise a shared carnival where each village competes with creativity, with the Bœufs (Oxen) from Jalhay and the Sangliers (Boars) from Herbiester participating. Since 2024, these carnivals are recognised as masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. The carnival's main specialty is a procession that is largely floral.
