History

Founded by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), National Cardiac Rehabilitation Week focuses people’s attention on cardiac rehabilitation and its benefits. Founded in 1985, the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) aims to reduce mortality and disability from cardiac and pulmonary disease through avenues such as education, prevention, rehabilitation, research, and management.

AACVPR focuses on these efforts by publishing numerous journals researching cardiac diseases and offers various learning programs that can certify people in leadership training and get better resources for understanding those diseases. AACVPR founded this holiday to also help patients in hospitals to celebrate their recovery and make better life choices regarding their health.

National Cardiac Rehabilitation Week is celebrated in hospitals and medical centers all over the whole in many different ways. Some centers take the time to create fun activities during the week in hopes of better recovery. Others play trivia, dress up, open houses, and charity fundraisers to encourage people to learn more about cardiac diseases.

Education becomes vital during this time so that people that have cardiac diseases can recover easier and learn more about what they can do for their health and well-being. Thus, many organizations and medical centers celebrate this week as a way to change people’s lives for the better through numerous activities and events.Ge
