Programme

The Bommelsfeesten in Ronse runs three days around Epiphany weekend and is led by a royal couple, court jester, and royal court . "Bommel lopen" means masked walking, and because this happens just after New Year, the Bommelsfeesten with Saturday evening's parade is one of Belgium's first carnival festivities . From Saturday to early Tuesday, the mayor dons the fool's cap and the Bommel king and queen hold sway .
