Aalst Carnaval takes place annually during the three days before Ash Wednesday, and for 2026 starts on Sunday, 15 February . This cultural and folkloric event held in East Flanders is recognized as one of the most famous and vibrant carnivals in Belgium and is included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity .
